Ziff Media Group—or ZMG, as it’s commonly called—is a growing collective of premium publishers, each providing a unique perspective on a unified belief: tech is today’s lifestyle.
With cutting-edge content and a need for an efficient process that manages an incredibly high volume of newsletters each month, ZMG requires a reliable tech stack that suits the needs of editors, stakeholders, and everyone in between.
A few years ago, ZMG was notified that their newsletter curating and publishing platform was going out of business…which started their research journey to find a replacement…ASAP.
Recently, we had the opportunity to chat with two ZMG team members to dive deeper into how they manage a workload of 50+ newsletters each week.
A few years ago, the ZMG team learned that one of their key tech tools was going out of business…and they had exactly 30 days to try to find a tool to replace it. It’s not a situation anyone wants to find themselves in, but fortunately, they discovered a tool called FeedOtter, which met all of their requirements.
“The transition was easy and seamless,” they shared.
Traditional newsletter creation can be time-consuming, especially when curating content across multiple sections of our website. FeedOtter automates these tasks, reducing the need for manual curation and giving the team more time for strategic planning or creative tasks.
“We love that we can easily add specific RSS feeds to FeedOtter for certain topics and then use them to build our newsletters which reduces the manual effort of finding and adding content to the newsletter. Additionally, we needed a way to quickly pull specific articles into the newsletter and the Save to FeedOtter bookmark tool does this well by scraping exactly what we need from the article to be pulled into the newsletter. Reordering articles in the newsletter is so easy—with just a click and drag.”
In the ZMG organization, there are a variety of team members use FeedOtter ever day, creating newsletters for multiple brands.
“FeedOtter’s content scraping capabilities have not only streamlined our content aggregation process but also enabled seamless collaboration among large teams. By automating the extraction and organization of relevant content, FeedOtter has significantly reduced manual effort and turnaround time. This efficiency boost has been invaluable in managing and scaling our newsletter operations across multiple brands.”
“Since integrating FeedOtter into our newsletter workflow, we’ve seen significant improvements across the layouts of our newsletters,” they shared.
“Time savings have been substantial; the automation of content scraping and newsletter creation has drastically reduced the manual effort required, allowing our team to focus on more strategic tasks.”
When asked their favorite part about using FeedOtter, ZMG said, “The efficiency—and it’s easy to use. We have many team members involved in creating newsletters that aren’t knowledgeable regarding the ins and outs of email marketing, FeedOtter simplifies the process and ensures that even those with limited experience can effectively use the templates. In the rare instances that issues do arise, we can easily resolve them.”
We were curious to know how a tool like FeedOtter fits in the overall marketing strategy of a high-volume publishing company like Ziff Media Group. Here’s what they had to say:
“FeedOtter plays a role in enhancing our overall email marketing strategy by streamlining content distribution and boosting efficiency for email creation. It helps us maintain consistency in our newsletter layout without the bottleneck of a busy drag and drop editor, as well as allowing us to easily add UTM parameters to all of our email campaigns without having to do it for each and every email. The export function allows our team to easily export our newsletters without the mess of copying and pasting long HMTL code.”
Additionally as mentioned before, “FeedOtter’s content scraping tool is one of our favorite features of the platform. It saves us an enormous amount of time, which is crucial, since we produce 50+ newsletters each week.”
“The platform has been a game changer for our business by simplifying and streamlining the management of newsletter creation,” ZMG shares. “Its user-friendly interface and multi-user functionality allow us to manage access to various newsletters effectively, reducing the risk of errors and ensuring smooth operations.
“Additionally, the support we’ve received from FeedOtter over the past few years has been exceptional. Andy (Founder & CEO of FeedOtter) consistently addresses our issues and inquiries promptly and collaborates closely with our team to gather feedback and suggestions. Andy’s proactive approach ensures that any needs or improvements we require within the platform are thoroughly addressed.”
We loved chatting with the ZMG team, and wish them continued success on their newsletters. If you’d like to see how FeedOtter can be used to support your newsletter publishing process, book a demo to get your questions answered.
